About Virtual Schoolhouse

The VSH Mission Statement

Virtual Schoolhouse is a bricks and mortar school designed to address the needs of students in grades K-12 who are at risk of dropping-out. Our students face many economic, environmental, emotional and/or academic challenges, including physical and mental health illnesses, social disadvantage, learning disabilities or other special needs. Virtual Schoolhouse strives to provide exceptional educational experiences for all students regardless of grade or performance level.

Virtual Schoolhouse aims to:

  • Meet the educational needs of children in Ohio who are not being adequately served by traditional school systems
  • Expand the vision of schools to include extensive teacher-student (face-to-face) interactions
  • Provide a challenging standards-based curriculum that best suits every child’s developmental level and individual needs
  • Reintegrate into the State’s educational system students who have been distanced due to physical, emotional, behavioral, or learning disabilities

Equal Educational Opportunity

It is the policy of the School to provide an equal opportunity for all children to achieve their maximum potential through the curriculum offered regardless of race, color, creed, disability, religion, sex, ancestry, national origin, social or economic background, or other legally protected category. Any limitations with regard to participation in a school-sponsored activity are based on critereia reasonably related to that specific activity.

The board’s policy of nondiscrimination extends to students, staff, job applicants, the general public and individuals with whom it does business and applies to race, color, national origin, citizenship status, religion, gender, sexual orientation, economic status, age or disability.

Testimonial from Parent

Letter from Valerie Ridley used with permission.

"I am just so delighted with my choice to send my son to VSH.  He is so happy when I pick him up now. He loves school and the tutoring program. His memory is improved (school badge, school work, hats, slips etc.). His new confident and bright attitude is wonderful. His math skills have come much farther along than I even imagined he could take it in this short amount of time. He seems very pleased with himself these days. Which was the hardest part of all.

He was telling me about how he made friends today. I am continuously noticing subtle improvements in everything he says and does. I'm overjoyed with his progress. You guys were able to discover the kid, student, and little gentleman I knew was buried down in him. A million thanks to you and everyone who has touched his life there. Thank you again."
