7th Grade Social Studies / Language Arts
Our seventh grade Social Studies class is currently studying Ancient Rome. We are performing a Tier Learning Structure. We learn together by forming different groups. While in group’s student’s have a chance to perform different roles. This allows student’s to have a chance to take part in each component, the reading lab, writing lab and the computer lab. We switch to different stations that consist of how Romans created most of our vocabulary to how Ancient building structures were designed, such as the Coliseums, Byzantine Empire, and Ancient Rome. We are also studying how the Greek alphabet and roman numerals was the beginning of written communication. We study how laws and territorial commandership enforced leadership. We are currently using United Streaming to fulfill a visual learning component of what it was like to live in the 275 A.D.
In Language Arts we are writing about the roman empire through Concept Mapping, and then bring it to life through creative writing, speech’s and book reports. We are covering the ‘’Red Rose Box,’’ By Cloretta Scott King, which is one of the top ten most read books selected best for the curriculum standard. We are connecting A + Plus along with Ancient Rome to fulfill the curriculum standard’s.
