High School news at Virtual Schoolhouse
Teen Health Summit
On Friday Nov. 16, 13 students from Virtual School House joined approximately 70 other are high school students for a teen health summit at South Pointe Hospital. The event was sponsored by the Cleveland chapter of Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program. The event featured a round robin series of lecture/discussions regarding safety, nutrition and kidney disease. The programs emphasis was educating the student participants regarding kidney disease in the minority community.
Ms. Crystal Banks organized and chaperoned our involvement in the program.
Class trip to Burke-Lakefront Airport
Ten of the High School students attended the outing along with Dr. Minton and Dinah Arvinger to Burke Lake Front Air Port for the Cleveland synergy for upcoming contracts with the Airport, Continental Airlines, the City of Cleveland and RTA.
Virtual School House should be proud to have these students. Our students were the only students that attended the event out of every school in Cleveland.
Both Dr. Minton and I received complements for the students conduct and behavior. Initially we demonstrated to our students, how to go to the vendors and ask about the industry and collect information.
We split up and groups and let the students gain exposure through experience.
The students were excited about their accomplishments. They had so much to share and they even spent time with the initial Tuskegee Airman and had some paraphernalia autograph by them.
All of our students were dressed alike in uniform. Some were asked what company they represented. The students said, they felt they were under dressed and should have been informed to dress in business attire.
