1st Grade news at Virtual Schoolhouse

Winter 2008

The first graders have been working very hard this school year.

They have been practicing their handwriting with many different writing assignments. The students are working on learning their vowels, diagraphs, and bonus letters. They enjoy reading and center time.

We also love art projects. Every month we change the theme of our door to our room. This month we are celebrating friendship and love. We made little birdies that are caring little letters with kind messages inside them.

Also this month, we are celebrating Black History. We learned about George Washington Carver and made special time line books highlighting some of the important times in his life.

This past week we celebrated the 100th day of school! I am very proud to say that the first graders came up with 100 ways to lend a hand and be a friend. We posted it in the hallway along with 100 purple handprints!

We always have a good time, while learning all that we can, in first grade!
