Second Grade Greyhounds
At the beginning of this year, our class voted to call ourselves the Second Grade Greyhounds because we are fast runners and fast learners! We certainly have learned a lot very quickly in the short month of December.
We completed our unit on The Gingerbread Man early this month, comparing different versions of the story and ending with a gingerbread party to celebrate. Our reading is growing by leaps and bounds as we master digraph sounds and read sentences. We also enjoy writing our own sentences about fun things we like to do in winter.
In math, we continue to sequence numbers to 100 and work on addition. We have made our own clocks and are telling time. We can read a calendar and count the days. And we just love using the computer to practice math concepts!
We can now name the continents, identify directions, and make maps with a compass rose. We explore the wonders of different kinds of habitats in science and learn about the water cycle by making clouds.
2007 has been a year full of learning for our class and we look forward together to 2008!
