  • Ms Goldin's KDG had THREE days of perfect attendance: no absences or tardies!

Mrs.Hunter reported that “Ms. Shvonne Welch gave me some helpful hand outs that can help teachers to determine if the negative behavior they experience in the class room falls under the mental health category, the cards do not cover every possibility but it is a very good tool to have and it gives an Idea about when to email me to request that I do a classroom observation so that we can begin to correctly put support services in place.  I do not have enough for everyone (only 9) so please e-mail me and I will give you one, if you feel that this is a tool that you will use often for occasional concerns you can always email me to request I or Ms. Carla to observe the student in question”.  – submitted by Mrs. Hunter LSW

Mar 15th,

  • Mrs Oeders class collected the most box tops and got free frosty floats donated by Wendy’s.
  • Every Thursday Ms. Illana Friedman does a healthy snack recipe with some of her students. They create the snack, the kids help put the ingredients together and have discussion, then the kids take the snack to three different staff members  to taste, etc, the kids ask questions, explain what they did and why and the staff can ask questions as well. This activity is helpful to the students because it allows them to step out of their shell a bit, get some socialization in and language skills with conversation, repetition of tasks and sequencing of directions. The kids get excited to share what they did and also try new things. This week we made Turkey and cheese wraps with lettuce and mayo added too. Some of the students enjoyed the snack some did not, all of the staff members enjoyed it…so they said. Ms Friedman

  • Miss Gajdzik’s social studies class wrote holiday cards for the men and women serving in the U S military.   This lesson was inspired by the RTT (Race to the Top) Committee’s Community Service piece.  A surprisingly pleasant thing happened, I shared this lesson with Mrs. Hogan and she had some of her students write letters and fill out cards.  One student from her class is Feliciano Harris.  Feliciano took the assignment to another level.  Feliciano is a high school student who works with the elementary kids.  After working with the elementary students, Feliciano handed me a stack of specially made holiday cards from the kindergarten class.  I was so impressed with Feliciano’s leadership, the thoughtful planning and the student’s work. I am sure the military men and women will appreciate this heartfelt effort by the student’s of Virtual School House and Schoolhouse Academy.  Have Happy Holidays!

Miss Gajdzik

  • On behalf of the Student Council we will have a donation box to help raise money.
  • There will also be a bake sale during this event as well.

Café Assistance to the Rescue

  • Students from High School have been helping hands to the school cafeteria staff in the lunch room. This service duty has helped students realize the importance of team work. Plus, it helps make the time for the staff members more effective. This project has been a rewarding service experience for the VSH students and staff.
  • Reading Big Words is Easy with High School Giants! High School students helped with elementary service project based on reading. Students from the High School worked together to read books to the young students of Virtual Schoolhouse. This was a great role model experience for youth of VSH.
